A Day Spent Resting Before THE ROCK!

Well, after all the hustle and bustle of travelling and all the hard graft (!!!)  I spent yesterday just pottering (I still do it here!) and getting myself ready for my next road trip - Ayres Rock!

Did go out in the evening though, Carries son Daniel was playing in a school 20/20 cricket match at the Oval (not the Adelaide one just a local one!) so the gang all met up there for cricket, sausage sizzle and giggles.  A very good night was had by all, even though Flagstaff School lost, despite some very good cricket, and they didn't lose by much.

Then it was home to bed for an early night as I have not been dropping off until way after 1am, think that is why I felt so zoned out yesterday, I even had an afternoon nap!

Well, I have woken this morning refreshed from my sleep and am just packing for my trip.  Taxi arriving at 1015 and then I am boarding my train, The Ghan, at 1220 for the 24hour trip to Alice Springs where I collect my 4x4 for the drive to Ayres Rock (about 300 miles of straight road with one right turn along the way!)  Then its 2 nights at the resort (Lost Camel Hotel), drive back to Alice and a night there before catching the Ghan home.

Not sure what the Internet situation will be like but I will endeavour to keep you updated, but essentially i will be looking at the rock from sunrise to sunset, there will be lots of pictures of it (very boring for some) but the place holds great affection for me so I will try to make it interesting!  Kanga and Sharky are coming along for the ride too so I will have some company (just like Tom Hanks and Wilson in that film where he got stranded on an island - the name escapes me.....)

So Bon Voyage for now and my next post should hopefully be from the Red Centre!!!!
