So it was time to leave the lovely Margaret River and head for some forests in Pemberton. i bid a fond farewell to the camp site (I could have lived there!), did a bit of supply shopping in the quaint little town then headed of down an appropriately named road, Caves Road! It was bloody full of them! None you need to climb through. thankfully so I plumped for Lake Cave.
It was amazing, like being in another world. almost like I had gone through the wardrobe to Narnia! It was 80-100m down (600 steps this time!) and it was unreal. All the stalactites and mites looked like crystal and it is the only cave with a lake in it, which made the reflections awesome. No flash on my Blueberry (got a could on my phone though), but i had been chatting to a couple from Melbourne who kindly took a couple of me and offered to email them to me! It was an amazing site and experience, reminded me slightly of a cellar I once had.......!
After a mega climb back to the surface, with a double chocolate milkshake to regenerate myself, it was back on the road. Oh, forgot to say, bumped into 4 people from my campsite here too!
Next stop was Hamelin Bay. Another OMG moment. Just cant get enough of these crystal waters and white sands! No one on it again so decided to take a walk and dip the old toes in. Gorgeous.
Then on through to Augusta which was a small quaint town with a lovely swimming 'pool' (a roped off bit of beach!) and I sat and watched for a while until I bumped into the campsite 4 again and decided to move on!
Next was the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, matching the one on the other cape that I had visited, but this one was open!
The last 80k of the journey was through the most amazing Karrai forests, which gave a complete contrast to the ocean views I had been getting. The canopy of trees above was just gorgeous and it was a pleasure to drive through. Little did I know there would be much more to come!
Arrived at the town of Pemberton, another small little settlement but very cute, the campsite was situated in a Forest and was really quite busy. It took me a while to work out why and then it hit me - it was the weekend. Nice owners of the site but they really need to do something about the Prisoner Cell Block H toilets! Christ! And there was only 2 ladies showers for the whole site. Up early in the morning for me then.......
Had a run in with some Germans as they said I was in their site, so park next to me then!! Got that sorted (I basically didn't move) and then spied a couple next to me who appeared to be camping in little more than a large sleeping bag that they rolled out of a bag!!
Early night with some wine and a nice little bit of dinner purchased from the town and set that alarm early for the showers......Eeeeek!
