Road Trip Day 2.......

Day 2 began with a walk down to the beach and a lovely coffee watching the surf.  Bit windy in these parts so a bit chilly first thing (bout 20) but it soon warms up!

Decided to go explore Port Lincoln today, lovely drive stopping off at a little place called Louth (they love an English name!) with another jetty (they love a jetty too) and a really secluded beach.  Mental note to come back for a picnic......

Port Lincoln is a lovely town, like all of them in these parts they are industrial towns so as long as you look the opposite way to the massive grain silos it is idyllic!  Did what I do best and checked out the shops and then drove to a few more secluded bays (I will never tire of that ) and finally stumbled across the Marina.  Swish and swanky houses and a very nice hotel bistro bar thing called The Marina Hotel (it does what it says on the tin out here - the mattress company sells mattresses, sparks and spanners sells sparks and spanners, liquor land......you get my meaning)  Lovely staff, lovely location and it turned out to have fab food and was the place to go (probably because there was no where else.....)

After 5 hours of relaxing, a seafood platter with scallops, local whiting, squid, oysters and prawns the size of my feet I headed off to find a new place to watch the sun set (can you see a theme here.....?)  Found a great spot to watch the event then headed back to my Motel in Tumby Bay.

Decided today that there was a big more to offer me in Port Lincoln so arranged to stay an extra 2 nights there so this was to be my last night here.  As I sat on the beachfront I glanced in the rearview mirror and saw the most amazing red sunset, bit spooky too if I am honest!

After finding somewhere to get a picture of it (town only has about 6 streets and I still find a new one everytime!) I got back to motel and when I got out of the Ute I found a dead parrot in the roof bars!  Headless too.  I wouldn't mind but I had driven through about 100 of them at about 100k over 7 hours ago and the bloody thing had been there all day!  Threw it in the bushes and then was plagued by the squawking of parrots all night as they mourned their brother.........

Pics to follow.......need more pancakes......
