Another day at the beach, hard life!!!

Sundays are all about being lazy and that is what I was!!  After a bit of a lay in (7.30!!) and pottered around (I do that where ever I am!) and then decided to take myself off to Noarlunga, a lovely beach not far from here.  Bit overcast but still positively tropical, the beach was so crowded (at least 50 people on it, shock horror!)

One of the reasons I decided on Noarlunga is they have a chippy.  Now there are chippies in Australia but not like the one here.  They actually cut their own chips.  And do salt and vinegar.  And wrap them in paper. Mmmmmmmm!  So armed with said fish and chips I headed off to find my spot amongst the crowds (not!)

I was initially joined by a lone seagull looking quite interested in my lunch, which quickly grew to a flock and resembled a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock movie!  There was one very brave and persistent little gull who came so close he almost took it from my hand.  And I swear he was dribbling.  He got called Mutley after my hound!  So after making sure the gulls got my scraps (that was entertaining) I settled in for maybe an hour or so.  This was 2pm.  I finally left at 9!  It was just so lovely sitting there listening to the waves and watching the world go by.

Then a gorgeous 1976 Mercedes came down the boat ramp with a canoe on top.  For some reason he decided to drive onto the sand and became as stuck as a stuck thing.  The driver got out and started digging out the sand under the car (wearing brown cords and a checked shirt, strange beach wear!) with a woman and her 2 dogs (didn't realise they were together at the time) but were getting nowhere until me and another girl offered our assistance.  Girl power prevailed and we dug and pushed him out of strife.  Then struck up a conversation with them both, Johnathan the driver and Suzie who had 2 most gorgeous dogs with her, a Aussie cattle dog called Jack who was 13 and a Staffie called Buster who was 4.  After offering me a ride in their glass bottomed canoe, which I politely declined, I sat chatting to Suzie whilst John stripped off his brown cords to reveal the classic pair of Aussie Budgie Smugglers!!  Lordy!  Still in his checked shirt he paddled off into the sea!  She stripped off and went for a swim leaving me in care of the dogs.  They were a lovely couple, if not a little bonkers, and sat with them for  a while until they left then it was back to chilling.

Only thing left to do was to watch the gorgeous sun set on another day in paradise before heading home to bed.  I am getting very used to this.........!
