Day 9 - Swansea to Hobart.....

Needless to say I woke feeling a wee bit jaded this morning - how much wine did I have last night.....!

Still it was worth it and there was a very well documented breakfast to enjoy at this hotel, which should deal with those alcohol munchies.....

It didnt let me down!  I had the full works and more, including a doggie bag of muffins that I didnt manage to shovel down.  They can be my lunch!

So I packed my bag into the Ute and headed off for Hobart.  I was delivering the Ute back to Kevin who I had borrowed it from and didnt really have any plans to stop on rout so I took a slow bimble down the good old A3.  It was still pulling some great scenery out of the bag, up hill and down dale, hugging the crashing surf.  Couple of breaks for coffee (and muffins, they didnt last till lunch.....) and then Hobart loomed into view.

I was greeted first by the bridge, Tasmanias Dartford Crossing (excepts its free and has a far better view....!) that takes you over to the city.  The view was amazing as Hobart is surrounded these amazing mountain ranges that loom over it.  Again, I had no plan for this part of the trip, so I pulled into the Hobart Botanical Gardens for a bit of a wander, and very lovely it was too.  Gorgeous displays and gardens and just made me see why people think it is so like England.  The tea roses especially took me back to my nans garden when I smelt them.

So after stretching my legs it was on the city.  After navigating the centre about 5 times (after the second I realised that Hobart really wasnt that big!!) and having a look round some shops, I took myself off to the harbour area to sit and catch up on my postcards.  Nearly had a fit when I had to buy the stamps, but that will teach me to get so behind.

After a bit of a drama trying to get hold of Kevin due to a technical hitch my end (leant on my phone whilst squiffy last night and managed to do something to my phone book thing......) I finally managed to track him down at work after getting the number for the Ambulance Service Tasmania from the visitor centre!

Spent the rest of the evening sorting out my stuff ready for my trip to flight to Melbourne, met Kev for a quick drink and then it was time for bed.  Fairly early start in the morning for my flight, and then 2 nights in a city that I have very fond memories of.  Lets hope it lives up to my memories.........!
